Keep the Kids Entertained All Summer Long
Science, Art, Crafts and More
Summer is a great time to get the kids outside and active, but there are also plenty of fun and educational activities to do indoors on those hot summer days. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Science:
- Make a volcano out of baking soda, vinegar, and food coloring.
- Build a solar oven out of a cardboard box and aluminum foil.
- Create a rainbow in a jar with water, sugar, and food coloring.
Art:
- Paint with watercolors or acrylics on canvas or paper.
- Make a collage out of magazine clippings, fabric scraps, or other materials.
- Create a sculpture out of clay, papier-mâché, or recycled materials.
Crafts:
- Make a friendship bracelet out of yarn or embroidery floss.
- Build a birdhouse out of a wooden box or recycled materials.
- Create a wind chime out of seashells, beads, and wire.
Other:
- Read a book together as a family.
- Play board games or card games.
- Have a water balloon fight.
